Removing Programs

If you are running out of space on your hard drive or you just don't use a program you may wish to remove programs. It can be a tricky bussiness, and if you do not do it the correct way thing can get messed up.

Below is a step by step guide to removing programs. There are many different ways to uninstall a program but I belive the following is a good way to decide what method to use.

The first thing to check for is if the progran has its own uninstall program. Find your program on your start menu, if there is an "Un-install" icon in the same section - use it and it will uninstall the program.

If it is not there - Read On

1. Click on the "Start" button

2. Select "Settings"

3. Click on "Control Panel" and thee Control Panel will open

4. Double click on "Add/Remove Programs" and a list of the programs installed on your computer will appear

Don't worry if there are programs missing from the list, not all programs put their details here

5. If your program is listed here click on it.

6. Click the "Add/Remove.." button and confirm that you want to remove it when you are asked.

If it was not listed - Read on

7. Click on the "Start" button

8. Select "Find"

9. Click on "Files or Folders" and the find tool will open

10. In the "Named" box type the start of the name of the program and press "Find Now"

11. The computer will now find all the files and folders with that name.
Ignore the files - only look at the yellow folders. Double click on the one with the same (or similar) name as the program

12. Look for an uninstall program here. If there is one - Use it

This is the end of the section, there are many more steps that can be taken but they exceed the scope of this tutorial. If you have not been able to Uninstall your program and you want more help feel free to Mail Me and I will attempt to help you as soon as I can.
