Hogsback |
USSU
Chancellor's Ale |
ABV ?.?%
This beer is a blend of two other Hogsback Brewery Beers which
have specially blended for the USSU and is usually available
in Chancellors..
A good, all round ale which is good for lazing in the sun

Hogsback |
T.E.A. |
ABV 4.2%
Traditional English Ale is the best known Hogsback brew and
it has won a lot of awards (including Bronze in the 'Champion
Beer of Britain' category medal at the CAMRA Great British
Beer Festival).
It is another favourite in Chancellors and is a regular visitor,
which is good, as it is a very nice pint of bitter. |

Hogsback |
England's
Glory |
ABV 4.8%
A Visiting Guest beer for St George's day and the start
of England's World Cup 2002 campaign.

Timothy
Taylor |
Landlord |
ABV 4.3%
Another multi-award winning brew, this time for the Timothy
Taylor brewery.
I have not actually tried this one myself as it was only on
briefly in Chancellors as part of Shaggy's new Guest Bitter
scheme. I look forward to trying it some time soon (perhaps
somewhere else) |

Rebellion |
Blonde |
ABV ?.?%
A new arrival in Chancellors but a welcome one. I know nothing
about the Rebellion brewery and know little about their range.
It is a nice, light, summery beer which even your average
lager drinker would enjoy. Perfect for cooling down on a sunny
day |

Smiles |
Maiden
Leg Over |
ABV 3.5%
The website says - "A pale light ale brewed with Pale
Ale malt and Fuggles hops designed to slake the summer's
thirst. The subtle bitterness and the clean malt palate
result in a balanced brew with a clean finish"
It is another bright summer ale which is refreshing and
have a cheeky litle aftertaste which really sets it apart

Exmoor |
Exmoor
Gold |
ABV 4.5%
The Website says: "Exmoor Gold is the original, 'Single
Malt' traditional ale - pale gold in colour with a malty aroma
and flavour. A slight sweetness is complimented by its long
hoppiness ressulting in a remarkable, well-rounded beer."
This is one of Mr Shaggy's favourites and he speaks very highly
of it. I tried it (bottled) at the Beer Fest, but to be honest
I'd had a few and I don't remember what I thought of it -
Unfortunately I missed it on Draught, hopefully it will visit
again soon. |

Cains |
Doctor
Duncan IPA |
ABV 3.5%
A lighter, yet full flavoured highly quaffable and refreshing
session beer, with a subtle hop aroma.
By the way, the beer's namesake was a hero in the world of
health: He was the First Chief Medical Officer in Britain
(Apparently - This is still on my 'To Try' List I'm afraid) |
|
|
Marston |
Pedigree |
ABV 4.5%
A well established ale which has sold well of late with new
ale drinkers as well as the establised bitter fans.
I have not had this for a while but IIRC it is most pleasant.
I will add more when I have the opportunity to sample it again. |
|
|
Badger |
IPA |
ABV 3.6%
"Badger IPA is a fine smooth ale brewed to 3.6% ABV.
Light in colour and easy to drink, this dry hopped ale is
served through a swan neck which gives the beer a rounded
taste and a refreshing finish with a fine hoppy character."
Well - That was the bottle version anyway. This should be
in the USSU soon ready for a good sampling
